Changes to my study programme

Imagen
Since I entered university I have thought about it: the Journalism career should be much shorter. Today it lasts five years, but I think it should be three. The two extra years are not justified. There are many things I would like to change about this. First, I believe that the link with the street is essential to develop in journalism. Knowing how to write is not enough, you must have contact with the communities and that is built in a long time. It may be because of the pandemic and the protests, but my experience in college has lacked this. Also, I think the curriculum has fallen short and journalism has advanced very fast. We need more courses in digital journalism and Human Rights electives. Along with this, it is necessary that the Institute of Communication and Image progress to become a faculty, which has more resources and infrastructure. We need bigger classrooms and more green areas on campus. I believe that the pandemic has opened a great opportunity to improve the...

Time travel to the future

Imagen
I'd love to travel to the future and see how Latin America is doing. We are one of the poorest continents around the globe and in constant search for development, so it would be interesting to see how much we have advanced in inequality, democracy and justice. Maybe in 2051, 30 years from today, things would be very different than today. Maybe the water in the seas rose, the snow on the volcanoes melted, and the trees in the mountains caught fire. I just hope it is not like that and global warming has not increased. I would also like to meet the leaders of those days. Will they be people or aliens? Will there be more women in positions of power? What will happen to the representation of native peoples? And the dissent? There are many questions that I would like to solve on my journey to the future. If I traveled to the future, I would not want to stay there. I would like to use what I saw to define my actions in the present. Maybe I would change my diet or my beliefs. I could ...

My dream job

Imagen
I have always loved music. I am not so good at playing instruments, but I do love the music industry. Since I was little I have been a BIG FAN of multiple artists. And also I am kinda a nerd: I love to learn facts, curiosities and secrets from my favorites artists. What if we put together a nerd and a music fanatic? The result is a music journalist Literally my dream I'd love to become a music journalist in the future. My dream is to travel around the world writing about concerts, festivals, documenting world tours and interviewing pop stars. Since 2018 I have had the honor to write in a chilean music magazine called LaRata.cl. There I have interviewed some big chilean artists like Francisca Valenzuela or Princesa Alba and internationals like Kali Uchis and Jorja Smith. In Chile this kind of journalism is not very well valued or profitable, so I pretend to study some major related to it in other countries that have a big industry, like United States, United Kingdom or Spain. I thin...

Miss you, little Wall

Imagen
When I was like 16 years old, I heard a sound from the garage of my house. After a few minutes looking for it, I saw it: there was a cat between my wall and the neighbours' one. Inmediately, I told my mom, who called the firefighters to rescue it. They cut a piece of the wall to get it out and done! It was a little cat, kinda grey with stripes and a spot on its paw. I adopted it and called "Wall" because of its origin hahah. It was on winter, so I bought a blanket, some food and sanitary sand, and also a little toy. I tried to keep it warm, but it was so reluctant. So, long story short, it just stayed with me for three days and disappeared. I was kinda sad, but then I met it on the streets and someone told me its story: it is the pet of a granny that lives alone, so I think she deserves its company more than what I do. And now every time I see the hole on my wall, I remember my three-day-cat :)

Power Rangers raised me up!!!

Imagen
When I was a child, I used to watch a lot of TV everyday, but not different childhood series. Instead of that, I watched always the same two programs: the Power Rangers and Scooby-Doo. I was obsessed with these show. I just wanted to go out of the school to watch it every afternoon. I remember that my mother bought me a different toy every month and one day I completed my collection of Power Rangers' figures. One day, at a costume party, I dressed up like the red one and my cousin like the pink. Also, the theme one of my birthday parties was Scooby and its team. It was so fun!! My birthday cake had the whole squad there. When I grew up, I started to watch other cartoons like Ed, Edd n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. But I didn't see Dragon Ball or Pokémon, because my mom didn't like them and I was kinda sad because all my friends used to watch it. Everytime I have the oportunity to watch one of these shows aga...

Seeing Lorde live was THE BEST CONCERT EVER

Imagen
When I found out that Lorde was going to perform at Primavera Fauna festival in November 2018 I said "I HAVE TO GO". Even though the tickets were too expensive, I got a press pass the week before the event and attended. What I love most about Lorde is that she's not a regular popstar: she is from New Zealand, writes about super common things and not always about love. In those days she was a very important artist for me: in 2018 I was going through a heartbreak and her album Melodrama helped me to get over it. Lorde performing at Primavera Fauna, 2018 During the concert she was super nice. She performed all my favorites songs and made me sing at the top of my lungs. I also cried because of the emotion and I think the whole crowd did too, specially during Liability, one of the saddest songs on the album. The day before the event I got a photo with her outside of the hotel. All of these things made this show my favorite, ever. Me and Lorde :)

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of...

I can't remember since when, but I think all my life I would like to visit the United States, exactly New York City. I think it is the right place to visit for me, a pop culture fan. There are a lot of attractions related to music and cinema industry that make this place my favorite. Times Square, NYC This country is one of the biggest of the world and has a big history behind and it's so attractive in terms of politics, something I like a lot. Definitely I would visit the Capitol and White House at Washington, the National September 11 Memorial at NYC, the Yellowstone National Park at Wyoming and Golden Gate Bridge at San Francisco. Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Capitol Building, Washington D.C. I would love to live there, but I do know that is a very expensive country and sometimes foreigners are very discriminated. But in my dreams I live in an apartment in front of Central Park, just like John Lennon and Yoko Ono did hahaha. Central Park, NYC
